Massachusets Bankruptcy Judge Approves Appointment of Gray Legal Group as a Special Counsel in Shamrock Finance LLC Bankruptcy

May 26, 2021, District of Massachusetts – On May 26, 2021, the Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts issued an order decreeing and approving the appointment of Gary Legal Group as a special counsel for Shamrock Finance LLC (“Debtor”) (Bankruptcy Case number – 21-10315) to assist Debtor in filing adversary proceedings to avoid the noteholders’ unperfected security interests that exist, as averred by the United States Trustee. The Debtor had filed an application for approval of the appointment of special counsel on May 24, 2021, and stated therein that Gray Legal Group is qualified to acts as its special counsel under 11 U.S.C. §327(e).   

Debtor is apparently a single-member Massachusetts limited liability company lender that provides inventory floorplan financing to independent car dealerships.  Dealers are primarily located in Massachusetts, with a small number in New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Florida.  According to the Debtor’s application, Gray is a small boutique law firm based in  Stoughton,  Massachusetts with two lawyers (Wayne M. Gray, Esq. and his son Jonathan H. Gray, Esq.) and Mr. Wayne Gray is an accomplished trial attorney with over  35 years of experience. Mr.  Jonathan Gray also is an experienced trial attorney, who graduated from the Suffolk University Law School in 2011 on the dean’s list and with a concentration in civil litigation. Gray has agreed to represent Shamrock in the contemplated adversary proceeding(s) without a retainer and intends to charge a blended rate hourly fee.
